St. Peter’s Church, Monks Horton, Kent.

Monks Horton’s name originates from 1100 years ago when a community of Monks was formed in Cluny in France and came to be known as the Cluniac Order.  Some 200 years later a group of monks from Cluny were invited to establish a community at Horton Priory.

St Peter's Monks Horton is one of the six historic churches in the Stour Downs Parish. A Grade II listed building it was built between the 13th and 14th Century but was restored in 1847.

Unfortunately it was closed on my visit so this is one for me to revisit at a later date.
