World Trade Center 1 (WTC) New York

The World Trade Center is a mostly completed (at time of writing) complex in Lower Manhattan. Six new skyscrapers will replace the original seven destroyed buildings from the September 11 attack. The site also contains a memorial and museum. The One World Trade Center building (above) is the lead building and tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

Architectural style - Contemporary Modern

Opened - 3rd November 2014

Height - (To tip) 546.2m / 1792ft

Floors - 94 (additional floors below Street level and for mechanical purposes)

Taking the crown of tallest structure in New York from The Empire State Building this building uses its spire to reach 1776ft in direct reference to 1776, the year of Independence. The tip takes the height slightly higher.

The three story observatory is located on floors 100-102 and guests are given a tablet which gives information on the landscape. In addition to this there are information shows giving the history of the development and New York in general. Gregg gave our talk which was very helpful from a tourist perspective.

Around the building you will find two memorials to those who lost their life and a memorial park which has a peaceful and reflective atmosphere.
